Oral Conscious Sedation
Laughing Gas
Laughing gas, or inhalation sedation, is a form of light sedation and is typically offered to young patients or those with mild anxiety in the dental chair. Laughing gas causes no pain; it’s odorless, colorless, and administered through a comfortable breathing mask.
Your dentist will control the amount of gas administered to ensure maximum safety and comfort. With this form of sedation, you can expect to feel entirely relaxed but remain able to answer questions as needed.
IV Sedation
Intravenous (IV) sedation is a form of anesthesia that involves sending anesthesiology gases into the bloodstream, causing you to feel tired and relaxed. It’s used for patients with extreme dental anxiety, those who have special healthcare needs, or those about to undergo oral surgery or lengthy treatment.
IV sedation uses anti-anxiety medication administered directly into the veins to promote relaxation and well-being. Dr. Matthew Burton will adjust the medicine during treatment to produce peace and memory loss in most patients.
